In the last chapter we looked at four ingredients in your karmic cocktail, but there is one more relevant element worth exploring. This is your Energy Archetype™, which serves as a conduit for your karmic beliefs or patterns to move and be expressed through you.

Before we can understand the Energy Archetypes and explore discovering what yours is, however, let’s make sure you have an understanding of the seven main chakras and their core traits, as these create the foundation of the Energy Archetypes™.

When you were born, you arrived with a physical body to move through life with – as well as a subtle body and auric field.

An essential function of your subtle body includes specific points that are conduits of energy, also called your chakras.

Think of these as energetic organs for your body, much like your heart and spleen are organs of your physical body. And like your physical organs, they each serve specific functions.

The name chakra in Sanskrit means ‘wheel of light’ as they are seen or felt by those with a sensitive eye or insight, as being wheels, or large discs of light, with specific colors and size.

The standard system often used here in the West is based on a seven chakra system, that is mainly Hindu in its origin (there are however, many systems of chakras around the world, but usually you will find very similar patterns and associations).

While I work with a system that also includes the ‘high chakras,’ adding up to 12 total, for the Energy Archetypes I focused on the most commonly known and used seven chakras – in part, because the chakras 8-12** tend to have a soul-level focus, whereas the chakras 1-7 tend to be more of an ego focus.

Chakras serve as a bridge from the energetic realm to the physical world – they provide very particular information to your overall system, much like a software program you run in your computer.

There are many ways the chakras help us; however, for our purposes, we’re looking specifically at the information that comes through your chakras on a karmic level, and how you are influenced in this lifetime.

Here is a simple reference to each chakra. This is not meant to be comprehensive by any means, but simply a quick guide to get you started and lead us into the deeper, juicy information of the Energy Archetypes – if you have a good sense of the chakras 1-7, that’s great! You may want to skim these and pick up just below:

(There is also a link to more in-depth exploration of the chakra system, through the 12th at the end of today’s article.)

First  – the Root chakra, Muladhara/ I AM

This is the foundation of survival and individuality, where the seeds of self-worth are sown. Because this is so foundational to our existence and sense of well being, our ability to manifest in life relies heavily on this chakra, therefore abundance or lack thereof is often tied to this chakra.

Second –  the sacral chakra, Svadhisthana/ I FEEL

A place of deep feelings and emotions, this is where our creativity originates – the urge to bring form into being and express begin here. We also find the seat of power for the feminine principles in this chakra (regardless of gender identification). In recent years, this chakra has been associated with money because of the powerful manifesting impulses here, but we must always take into account the energies rising up through the 1st  as well.

Third – the solar plexus chakra, Manipura/ I DO

Here we find the realm of one’s will, ego, and power, as well as mental processing. The seat of power for masculine principles and energies (also not dependent on gender identification), this chakra can contribute much to making things happen in our lives and generating commitment and focus.

Fourth – the heart chakra, Anahata/ I LOVE

Here we find the depths of love – relationships, compassion, and caring –  most especially beginning with self love (we see this flourish in greater ways with the outside world in the seventh). As such, this chakra is also a place of great learning in regard to co-dependency and healthy boundaries.

Fifth – the throat chakra, Vishuddha/ I SPEAK

This is the place where we find our voice and use it to speak our truth, whatever that may be for each of us. This furthers the energies of manifesting how we engage with the world, as we express through personal vibration from deep within, without, and into the physical world. This is very much a chakra that teaches about personal Truth – as well as how we may deceive ourselves or others.

Sixth – the brow chakra, Ajna/ I SEE

Also called the ‘third eye’, often associated with intuition, vision, and imagination (for good reason), this is also very much a chakra of identity. Can we envision Who We Are and step into that reality? Patterns of our reality play out here as if they are the movie of our lifetimes.

Seventh – the crown chakra, Sahasrara / I BE

Associated with awakening and divine awareness, in my work this still carries energies from one’s ego, however elevated the awareness may be. This chakra brings the compassion and love of the heart (one’s self) to greater levels of engagement with the world and one’s community. Here is where we enter the gateway to move beyond our ego, entering the temple to God Herself.

Now that you have an overview of the chakra system, let’s explore how the Energy Archetypes are expressed through them:

How your Energy Archetype is expressed through the chakra system

Your Core Chakra is your Energy Archetype

Through my work with clients I’ve found that people often run their energy in identifiable patterns. Themes emerge that reveal which chakra is functioning as an individual person’s energetic “home base,” or Core Chakra.

Your core chakra is programmed much like a station on the radio by your soul, and it’s karmic evolutionary song.

Over time, I began to realize that this core chakra can divulge much about how a person may react to situations in his or her life with consistent traits, along with energetic and karmic influences they may bring or present to those situations: the Energy Archetypes™ were born.

Your Energy Archetype is defined by your core chakra – they go hand in hand, like the ego and the soul. Remember the plan that your soul creates before it enters this lifetime? Well, your core chakra is part of the road map for that plan.

It also carries the seed of your greatest karmic BOON in this lifetime – this is your ‘superpower’, giving meaning and purpose to your life — and I want to point out that often it can be how you are perceived by others, not always how you think you appear. In part, this is because there’s a lot of information coming through on a soul level energetically, and if we have a lot of blocks or healing needed, we may no longer recognize what others can clearly see.

For instance, while you may relate to many traits of other archetypes, if you Energy Archetype is The Creative, you may find that the greatest power you always seem to return to, or be able to pull from – you at your best – is based in the realm of creative self-expression, or other qualities aligned with the 2nd chakra. But if you have a hard time expressing your creativity (due to other influences or wounding), you may not even think of yourself as a ‘creative person.’ Meanwhile, all your friends know exactly who to go to for input on the best design for their living room, or how to pull together a fabulous outfit.

Another example may be The Visionary – they may find that at their very best, they are always able to see a way through from a very intuitive place, or help others to see ‘all the possibilities’, which can align with the intuitive, visionary realm of the 6th chakra. As someone that has been an innovative inspiration to everyone all around you throughout your life, you may not even realize that we all come to you for amazing insight and ideas, because of your amazing ability to truly ‘see’ amazing possibilities that we just can’t – you help us to create a new and better vision. With this awareness of your Visionary talent as your Energy Archetype, you can harness this wisdom to fully experience a deeper purpose to your life, and serving others.
